Reconstruction of a man's costume from the Roman Iron Age. The reconstruction is based on the finds of coat, trousers and cloak in the Thorsberg sacrificial weapon find (see room 19). The coat is quite narrow and has sewn-on sleeves. The trousers have legs and feet sewn in one piece. Knee-length trousers are known from other bog finds. To these belong leggings hold in place by bands. The man's dress with trousers is known from Roman pictorial representations. The Romans themselves did not originally uses the trouser costume, but Roman Legionairs in Germania adopted it. The third piece of clothing in the man's dress was the cloak (see the original pieces of cloth in the small showcase). The reconstructed Thorsberg cloak measures 2.7 x 1.7m. In addition to this cloak, remains of another fine cloak have been found in Thorsberg bog, patterned in red and blue. These fine cloaks belonged to especially distinguished men.
