Oak coffin grave found in the grave mound Borum Eshøj at Århus, Jutland. The deceased was an elderly, strong-built woman, about 155cm high. Her long, blonde hair had once been held in a hairnet. At burial, the woman was clothed in a blouse with elbow-length sleeves while her lower body was covered by a large piece of roughly sewn material. She had a belt around the waist which carried a large ornamental plate and a dagger with a handle made of horn. There were also items of jewellery, sewn onto the dress or worn around the dead woman's neck, wrists and fingers, amongst the grave goods. During the excavation, the grave was roughly treated. The coffin was on preserved. It's contents is exhibited here in a coffin found in Guldhøj, Jutland.

Notes:

Comb made from a horn plate around 3-4mm thick. The edge of the dress has been finished with a slightly darker colored woolen thread. Type of finish hard to recognize.
